A long road from Inverness ;) Mon 1st March 2010

Gig pics will follow, but for now, wanted to say what happened on the drive home from Inverness to North Yorkshire

we left Travelodge in Inverness at about 10.30 this morning. First part of drive was bliss…the snow covered mountains, the scenery, the roads !! We stopped at Aviemore for breakfast, then I did a bit of driving. After having the can (car van) conerted to LPG, it’s lost a little oomph, so I was stuck behind a couple of tourists

We stopped for gas, then MrRob washed all the salt off from the roads. So far so good. let’s pop into services and grab a coffee, while I get some pics of the lovely Bridge….Services has been knocked down. GONE

So on we go, with MrRob behind wheel. BUT he doesn’t stop at next services. We drive for ages, bums numb, legs crossed

Finally he finds a supermarket.

We use the services, buy some snacks and then the journey went wrong

Tom Tom directing us around a 30 minute delay, leads us to sit in rush hour traffic at Newcastle.
May have been better to stay on A1 ?

Then we stopped much later to hunt down that much needed coffee….(this was 7.05pm), but the Costa at services shut at….7pm!!! I want coffee !

On we go, and some idiot in front of us decided to overtake a lorry, but he wasn’t concentrating. For some reason, it’s hard to understand what happened….but he hit the central reservation, bounced off and hit it a couple more times!!

Lorry driver pulled on to hard shoulder and ran over to the car, to make sure driver was ok.

We pulled over on hard shoulder, I called police and Rob got out to chat to lorry
driver. He asked us to stick around until police got here, so 40 more minutes added to our already long day

BUT the most important thing was, no-one was hurt.

On our way again, time to get Tommy home, he’s been doing some roadie duties for Heaven’s Basement and had a lift with us……..

sorted, Tommy home. Made arrangements to collect him Friday and headed home

Arrghhh Road was closed, so we had to go back on ourselves and detour.

Finally we’re home. This trip from Inverness to yorkshire has been a long one, BUT it’s all an adventure eh
