*Vains Of Jenna* European Tour part 3, by Donna/ Bitchin Rock Mistress

Not being able to make Part 2 of the European tour , we were keen to see Vains Of Jenna guys again. With less than 24 hours to prepare we headed to the ferry, to make it to first gig in France

Sun 27th June, Pacific Rock, Cergy, France
Arriving in the middle of a heat wave, we were trying to keep a low profile so we could surprise the guys. They had no idea we were coming
The venue, situated in an industrial area (but with some apartments over the businesses) It’s easy to drive past. BUT luckily, we’d been there a couple of months before with Vains Of Jenna In fact, this was the last venue we’d been with them on Part 1 of the European tour

We got inside and it was like a sauna in there. No air con to speak off and no source of cool air. We were melting. We drank bottle after bottle of their chilled mineral water, in the hope of cooling down

A new feature was a perspex surround around the drum kit. Very unusal

Supporting again were locals Aesthesia
No my kind of thing, but the guys always bring a good crowd and play their hearts out.

The cool thing about tonight’s gig, was seeing some younger Rock lovers at a gig. A couple of young lads about 12 years old were rocking out, loving every minute

During Aesthesia’s set, a couple of the guys came from dressing room and we thought we’d been rumbled;)

But it wasn’t until they were setting up on stage that we were turly rumbled. I’d seen a couple of people waiting to buy merch and as the guys were busy on stage, there was no one to serve. I held off for as long as possible, but the merch bitch in me took over and I got behind that table ready to sell.
J.P. spotted someone at the merch and then he saw MrRob’s unmistakable hair When all the band got on stage, we had surprised and happy looks from all of them. Jesse even taking time in a song, to call MrRob to front for a hug. The crowd all moved forward and I knew that meant I’d have a problem getting pics, but it also meant I could see much better form merch, so it was cool. I got a couple of pics, but nothing fantastic

The crowd were melting in the heat, I don’t know how the guys managed on stage. They were amazing tonight.
J.P and Anton had the young rockers stood in front of them. The happiness on those lads faces when they were given a bit of attention and a pick.

A fantastic gig, it felt like we hadn’t been away. It’s always a pleasure to watch the guys in action.

Thurs 1st July, Parken, Göteborg
Assuming guys outside were the support band Cowboy Prostitutes I asked if Vains Of Jenna were here yet, so they took us into the venue
A lovely, big, air conditioned venue. Vains Of Jenna merch was over one side of room and Cowboy Prostitutes over the other. We thought the venue wanted this way, so we set up, but with hindsight, I don’t think they were bothered

A special gig tonight. Mum’s and Dad’s, family and friends were in. We were introduced to J.P and Jacki’s Mum and Dad. A lovely couple

MrRob took some pics, hopefully they’ll be online soon. Unfortunately, I was too busy to get my camera out. The busiest night of the tour for merch. …plus I was only just getting to grips with the money.

A superb gig from both bands. The crowd, the atmosphere, the sound, the venue all made for a very special night. A great start to the Swedish part of the tour.

After our goodbye hugs, we set off for a stroll around the city. Man, it was noisy, there seemed to parties everywhere. When we did eventually get back to van, it took ages for me to block out the ‘jungle’ beat coming from somehere up the road

Fri 2nd July, Temple, Karlstad
A late gig tonight. It was getting close to my bedtime by the time Cowboy Prostitutes hit the stage
I did take a few pics, but I wasn’t happy with any of them, so I deleted them The merch was set up in the cloakroom, to back of stage, so sound was very odd. But it was even worse at front.

A very unresponsive crowd tonight. The band were brilliant, doing a great job of trying to get a response from crowd, but to no avail

Vains Of Jenna got on stage, the crowd still unresponsive except for a few people at the front The guys played their hearts out too

I’m really not sure why people paid to get in, if they didn’t want to be there It sucked

Sat 3rd July, Virus, Örebro
A local gig for Cowboy Prostitutes and they had a huge crowd in. Luca came out wearing a wig he’d found in the dressing room. Plan was to wear it the whole gig, but with the stifling heat, there was no way he could keep it on. BUT for the moment, it was fun to see
A fast paced, energetic set from the guys. Always good to hear the banter between songs….even when lots of it is in Swedish Great to see them play a local gig, in their territory

Vains Of Jenna were met with the same response and it made for a fan bloody tastic gig.
Great to see a hen party at the gig too, the bride to be doing some crazy dancing, while her friends looked on with WTF expressions. Priceless

Sun 4th July, Harry B James, Stockholm
Last night of the Swedish tour and the end of the European tour
Harry B James is a really cool Rock bar, right in the middle of Stockholm. The walls are adourned with CD’s, LP’s and other rock memorabilia. You could spend hours just looking around the walls….and ceilings.

The place was packed and a party atmosphere was apparent right from the get go. A brilliant night. My only hindrance,was a pillar between the stage and merch Plus lighting for pics was bad. But I grabbed a few shots. othing brilliant, but they are memories of a fantastic night

After several hugs and many, many thank yous from both bands, it was time for us to leave. We’re not sure when we’ll see any of them again. BUT we definately will see them, there’s no doubt about that. Cowboy Prostitutes are a lovely bunch of guys and it was a pleasure helping them out. As for Vains Of Jenna, they are truly a beautiful bunch of guys. Hope it’s not too long before we see them again
