*The Crave (Breaking The Silence Tour 2011) with Special Guests Tiger Please, Feb 2011 (Part 1 of 4)
Ryan from The Crave, told me they were touring again and would we like to join them? Feck yeah!!

I was still unsure, up until the day before, if I’d be well enough to endure the tour (still being ill since October) But, what the heck, we were taking the Bitchin Rock Bus and I could rest up if needed. Plus the timing was great, we had builders in at home and the heating was turned off, we had no bathrooms etc, so being on road was best place to be…except our van is broken too. The heating has decided to stop working. So we’ll have to go to bed in many layers 😉

Not going to review/write each day about how well The Crave or Tiger Please played ….for me, each gig they were both fantastic.
The Crave have upped their game a little and their performance is always energetic, powerful, catchy and leaves me with a huge smile on my face…plus a good work out from dancing, when my body allows 😉
Tiger Please are a different kettle of fish, a much more chilled, moody style, but just as powerful kind of music. Leon’s vocals are sublime.

Mon 7th Corporation, Sheffield
Great start to tour, Jakey (The Crave‘s van) had broken down, so they needed to organise an hire van and drive from Brighton 🙁
We headed to Sheffield for gig 1 of 19!! First stop Costa for 1st coffee of many on the tour 🙂 Back to venue to be reunited with those lovely guys from The Crave.
Introduced ourselves to Tiger Please and took over their merch 😉
Only the 2 bands tonight, local supports had pulled out or something
Great start to tour, good crowd, great sound. No pics from me tonight

Off to Tibshelf services to park up for night, where MrRob spent a good half an hour battling with the parking system on the phone 🙁 We are a camper, but keep showing up as an HGV 🙁

Tues 8 Cockpit, Leeds
Coffee in Costa at Tibshelf was bleurgh today 🙁 Not a good start to the day. Plan for today is find a campsite we can stop off at and shower, but after finding one that’s open and travelling for what seems like hours, we turn up only to discover they have NO electric 🙁 Which means nothing is working. So we head off and find a beautiful little place to come back to that night….with electric!! So we’ll have heat tonight. woohoooooo

On to the Cockpit. Merch is going downstairs, gig upstairs, so we won’t see the show tonight, but we’ll definitely hear it!
MAN it’s cold downstairs! We were FREEZING. Everytime the door opened, there was a blast of cold air and that combined with the air con above us, was positively freezer like . Brrrrrr
I managed to grab a few Tiger Please soundcheck pics but no gig pics from me tonight.
Support tonight were Outside Asylum (1 member a familiar face back from our days touring with SIGN)

Wed 9 Flapper, Birmingham
A lovely, warm nights sleep at campsite, followed by the most amazing shower. Heaven (easily pleased me). Then it’s on to Birmingham. Today is not a good day health wise, so I rest up in van, while MrRob and Sabra take Bess for a walk. Restocked sweety tub in local shop and set up merch. We were set up in an alcove behind sound desk. So I managed to grab a few shots tonight woohoo

Tiger Please

MrRob will have some pics of The Crave for you

We drove on towards Southampton, stopping off at a ‘quiet’ services……

*******************************

Thur 10 Joiners, Southampton
…..only to be woken up by builders in the early hours. Drilling, cutting metal, banging etc etc ……arrrrghhhhh
Is ok, there’s a Starbucks inside, coffee will save the day 😉
At venue, was unsure how many bands playing, turns out was 4, but only 3 played

The Light Divided did a great job of warming up the crowd.

The Crave

Starving, so decided a grab some fries at locla McDonalds before hitting the road. Doors were locked, but sign said drive through and walk through open 24 hours…so we tagged along behind a couple walking through drive through . After queuing between cars for 20 mins and getting weird looks, couple were told ‘walk through’ widow was other side 😉 lol oops

On to 1 of our favourite stop oves at Service area in Beaconsfield. They have a Starbucks!!!

*******************************

Fri 11 O2 Islington
Winner…double espresso and we’re ready to face the day
We treated ouselves to a Wagamamas mmm mmmmm noodley goodness…not such a good idea before the gig tho…I was burping chillies all night ; )
MrRob managed to grab a merch bag and light. Seemed like a good idea at time, but bag fell apart after couple of gigs…that’s what you get for buying a cheap, market bag 😉 lol

Hope And State

Back to Beaconsfield for a good nights sleep, with the plan of heading to Oxford for Gluten free pizza next day, then on to Ponty to meet up with Mam and shop in Cardiff…….

*******************************

Sat 12 DAY OFF
BUT things didn’t go to plan. We got our pizza in Oxford mm mmm
Spent much longer in Oxford than we planned, so was too late to hit shops when we got to Cardiff. Then heard The Crave’s van had broken down again……in Reading. MrRob called Ryan and we put ourselves on standby to go rescue them 😉 They were trying to sort out another hire van until Shakey got sorted…
Managed to get Jakey and themselves rescued to Bridgend (to CJ’s family) and hired a van big enough for their gear and 2 band members.
We would go pick up 2 of them next morning.

A quick visit to Mam, with lots of hugs. So good to see her again.

*******************************

Sun 13 Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff
Off to Bridgend to pick up 2 of The Crave (Carlos and Ryan) and back to Cardiff.. …playing UNO all the way. Carlos and Ryan play mean, they ganged up on me an whooped my arse at UNO 🙁 I’ll get my revenge 😉
Now people think I was seeing things, but when we arrived near the venue in Cardiff, there was a giant, dancing pig!! I was beginning to think I’d been seeing things, but as you can see by 1st 2 pics below…….A dancing pig !!

The Calling Card opened tonight’s proceedings. Energetic start to the night. Cheers guys

The Crave

Tiger Please headlining tonight, it’s a local gig for them and plenty of family and friends here to see them.

Back to CJ’s folks for the night. We parked up just down street.

*******************************

Mon 14 Central, Wrexham
Had a ‘shower’ in CJ’s folks house and a fantatstic mug or 2 of coffee. Ready to hit the road.
Tom Tom deciding the narrowest back roads woud be our quickest route to Wrexham 😉 There were times when it felt like we all needed to breath in 😉 Very difficult to play UNO in these conditions !! lol
Quick shop in Wrexham…sort of. The food and on to gig

What happened to the heating in Central??? Did someone forget to fill the meter with 50ps? Whatever the reason, it was fecking freezing in there. Band members walking around in coats and scarves….we even spent night selling merch in coats and gloves!!! Bloody ridiculous 🙁

Great to see Pete again (Pedro from Bitchin Rock Photos)…he and MrRob took pics I think, so hopefully there’ll be something from them. I only shot Whiskey and Lace tonight. Was too bloody cold to move most of the night……….plus was too busy watching very drunk lady, doing some very odd things lol She was ace 😉

Whiskey + Lace opened gig tonight. Doing a great job of getting the crowd ‘warmed’ up. … in more ways than one. They have a new EP, called SLEAZE HARD SEX ROCK. Get your Hard copy at a gig or you can have a listen on their band page on Facebook.
