*The Crave (Breaking The Silence Tour 2011) with Special Guests Tiger Please, Feb 2011 (Part 2 of 4)*

Apologies for the length of Part 2, but I’m on a roll now, there’s no stopping me πŸ˜‰

Tues 15 Chinnery’s, Southend
Tom and Ryan came along for the ride today. Ryan and Sabra trying to beat each other at UNO again, while Tom gets on with his Tour diary.
Weren’t sure what to expect with Southend on Sea, but didn’t have that “We’re going to the seaside feel” + it was bloody freezing. Probably a bustling place during warmer weather, but very quiet today.
Venue was located on seafront, in between a few arcades πŸ˜‰ Rock and Roll baby πŸ™‚

A very poor turn out tonight. Was weird having our merch stand next to the stage too, we were lit up better than the bands lol BUT it meant I got to take a few pics tonight….ok they were from side of stage, so I got a completely different view to the crowd, but cool all the same

First band on tonight are Long Story Short . A group of fresh faced, young guys. To me they sounded very Blink 182, not my kind of music, but they played very catchy, upbeat tunes. Certainly got the ‘crowd’ going. Lots of screams coming from a couple of girls down the front….

Us ladies had booked a hotel for the night, so MrRob very kindly drove us to Nottingham…. along with Tom and Carlos (they would be sleeping in van with MrRob and Bitchin Rock Dog)
Had a lovely sleep at hotel…..bliss

******************************************

Wed 16 Rock City, Nottingham
After a very long, very hot, much needed shower, we headed back to van…….almost……..after walking a HUGE circle of parts of Nottingham we’d never seen before, (using google maps on my phone) πŸ™

On to Starbucks for some well needed coffee….Then Carlos and Tom went off on man date πŸ˜‰ While we headed off to hit the shops.

We were too knackered though and headed back to van after a while. More coffee and set up merch.

Opening tonight were Jezebel
A mix of original and covers from these guys. Foot tapping rock

The Crave

Back to Tom’s folks for a good nights sleep. We parked up in same spot…even after Tom’s Mum jokingly told him the neighbours had put a NO CAMPING sign up after our last visit πŸ˜‰

******************************************

Thur 17 The Croft, Bristol
Coffee in Bitchin Rock Bus and then we had a walk in the local park with Bitchin Rock Dog. There’s a brilliant park in there for the ….. ummm ‘kids’. So Sabra and I had to have a go

We picked up Ryan and Carlos and headed off to Bristol….stopping for Starbucks along the way πŸ˜‰
Driving near to venue gave us all an uneasy feeling. In Ryan’s words “venue is in the middle of the god damn ghetto” . Buildings had thick bars on windows and there was graffitti everywhere.

We parked up, in what we thought was a ‘safe’ spot, but MrRob still felt uneasy πŸ™
Us ladies had to go find a cake for Luc’s (Tiger Please) Birthday …he was turning 21 on the Sunday, but tonight was his last gig on this tour πŸ™ Clever guy has got exams πŸ˜‰ Cake purchased and mad dash aroud to find a suitable card, we quickly grabbed merch kit from van and headed to venue.

MrRob decided to stick with van all night, he wasn’t taking any chances.
I think he and we missed a cracking gig tonight. Unfortunately for Sabra and myself we had to set up merch in the bar area, next to doorway to the second gig room……..where 3 ‘indie’ bands were playing. I’m sorry but the noise coming out of that room was awful….we couldn’t even drown it out, listening to the good gig πŸ™ Got so sick of people asking us “How much to get in?”……we’re selling merch not fecking gig tickets πŸ˜‰

Tiger Please chill

End of gig, said our goodbyes to Luc πŸ™ and left all of The Crave behind ( their van was fixed )
Poor MrRob arrived to pick us up in a right state, he’d had prostitutes and tramps knocking on van looking for business and spare fags πŸ˜‰ Poor fella looked freaked out.

******************************************
Fri 18 DAY OFF
Home for blood tests, shower, food and chill woohoooooooo
BUT the drains were blocked, so those plans didn’t work out. Showers would have to wait until the drain guys had been out next morning πŸ™

******************************************

Sat 19 Moho Live, Manchester

Woohooo Drains unblocked and it was all Cisterns go!! πŸ˜‰ Everyone showered, fed and off we went to Moho. BUT we were running very late. Made it to venue just before the gig and enough time to set up
Introduced ourselves to Kyle (Luc’s stand in for the rest of tour).

Opening tonight are Skarlett Riot . A young band, with a LOT of potential. We first saw them when they were supporting Heaven’s Basement last year I think. They’ve re-einvented themselves with a new name and new image which is much more suited to their sound. Chloe oozes confidence onstage, belting out tune after tune with a voice more ‘seasoned’ female vocalists would be proud of.

I remember this part of the gig well, 1 minute I was stood in front of stacks in the ‘photo pit’…next I was down, sporting a corker of a bruise on my knee. OUCH

Excellent gig, spent with lots of friendly faces…you all know who you are πŸ˜‰ xx

On the road again, heading for Guildford

******************************************

Sun 20 Boiler Room, Guildford

Spent ages driving around and around trying to park the Bitchin Rock Bus or find a shopping centre with suitable parking..but wasn’t to be. So we parked at the fields Guilfest is sited on each year. Made a meal in van and just chilled and chilled.

On to venue, cool little music venue/bar with a rel coffee machine woohoooo Coffeed up, merch set up and we were ready to Rock
Eddie (The Crave’s manager) turned up with some beautiful looking homemade cupcakes. Wish I could have tried one, they looked delicious

Bluesy, catchy, rock. I liked these guys. Rise

The Crave …not brilliant pics because I could only shoot from the merch at back for the guys…..there were far too many tall people in my way πŸ™ PLUS I was too busy dancing πŸ˜‰

******************************************

Mon 21 Haymakers, Cambridge
Found a place to park next to venue and went into town, Bess joning us for the long walk. Plan was to finally do our clothes shop, but to be honest, there were far too many people and we just weren’t in the mood πŸ˜‰ So we grabbed Starbucks and had a leisurely stroll back to van.

MrRob told us ladies to go to front for this gig, there weren’t many people in and the merch was almost looking after itself πŸ˜‰ .
The Tiger Please guys ended The Crave’s set dancing with bananas for c**ks at side of stage. Poor Tom πŸ˜‰ Then they joined us in front row … πŸ˜‰ Very funny guys!!! πŸ˜‰
